The Naughty or Nice Tag

I saw this tag on Swetlana’s blog, though I think it was originally created by Jenniely!divider

Received an ARC and not reviewed it

Ohhhhh yes. Here’s the thing: I’m really picky about ARC format. If the e-ARC is at all messy or weirdly formatted, I’m just not gonna read it. Even if it’s just a matter of something like missing paragraph spaces. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Have less than 60% feedback rating on Netgalley

My Netgalley feedback rating is 28% lmaoooo. But I’m a librarian member because I’m in ALA, so I pretty much get approvals for like 98% of the books I request, and I’m auto-approved for a bunch of publishers, which is awesome because it takes me a really, really long time to read certain ARCs. Sometimes I read them way after the book is published, which I guess defeats the purpose, but oh well.

Rated a book on goodreads and promised a full review was to come on your blog (and never did)

Ever since I committed to writing full reviews, I’ve been pretty good about it! I don’t think I’ve ever missed a review since I made the decision to write full, thought-out reviews. I think it’s been a year and a half now?

Folded down the page of a book

I haven’t done this since I was in junior high! I literally have at least thirty bookmarks at home, so it seems ridiculous to fold down the page.

Accidentally spilled on a book

Hmm, maybe a drop of tea or water? I don’t generally eat or drink when reading, though.

DNF a book this year

I have DNFed a couple of books, though I don’t consider that naughty!

Bought a book purely because it was pretty with no intention of reading it

LMAOOOOOO I am being called out here…but to be clear I always have the intention of reading any book I buy. It might just take…some years, that’s all.

Read whilst you were meant to be doing something else (like homework)

Of course.

Skim read a book

Nah. I’m a little obsessive about things like this; it’s either I read it or I don’t. If I skim it then I don’t know whether or not to mark it as read and that upsets my Goodreads count and that literally makes me want to break out in hives. I even get prickly when I have to consider whether or not to add plays or really short books to my Goodreads count! Nah. It’s either I read it properly or I DNF.

Completely missed your Goodreads goal

Not since I started doing them, I think!

Borrowed a book and not returned it

WELL I do work in a library, so I definitely have a tendency to hoard books. It’s not like I won’t ever give them back, but I have definitely had some books on my shelf for literal years.

Broke a book buying ban

Ha! I’ve never had a book buying ban in the first place. I’d never be able to maintain it, so it would be pointless.

Started a review, left it for ages then forgot what the book was about

Nope! I mean, I forget what books are about all the damn time, but never before I write a review.

Wrote in a book you were reading

I mark up some non-fiction books I read, yeah. I also don’t consider this naughty!

Finished a book and not added it to your Goodreads

Are you kidding? I live for the moment when I get to click “I’m finished!” on Goodreads. I update my Goodreads obsessively.

  1. YOUR NETGALLEY FEEDBACK PERCENTAGE IS 28% DJSKLFJDSLK that is honestly incredible and I LOVE that you don’t even need to care about it because you’re in the ALA. Amazing. Us mortals over here are slaving over that 80%.

Definitely going to do this tag too!!

    1. The weird thing is I’m pretty sure anyone can become a member of ALA?? I think they have an option for “Friend of Libraries” or something like that…so technically there’s no stopping anyone from joining ALA and lying about their Netgalley status. I don’t think Netgalley asked me for proof or anything when I changed from blogger to librarian…

      1. Oh my god that’s so funny. It’s really not an issue for me since my feedback ratio is good and I’ve reviewed a million books on Netgalley so I get approved for most things but if I ever get lazy and let my ratio slip I’ll defo keep that in mind.
