So, I read (1) more book than I had planned, and that book was a novella, so there’s not much to write home about there, but I think it was still a good reading month! I enjoyed all these books, no duds, and three of them are books that have been on my TBR for a long time.

Not bad this month, not bad at all! I read what will ultimately be one of my favorite books of the year, THE LOVE HYPOTHESIS. Man, let me tell you, I’m very picky about my romance, but when it hits, it hits. This was just…pure serotonin. I read the whole thing in pretty much one sitting and actually lost track of time; I cannot even remember the last time that happened. Actually, I don’t think it’s happened all year. It’s such a funny, charming book with so many tropes I enjoy, and it was just…such a genuinely good time.

The reading slump continues, though I think it’s slowly getting better. To be fair, two of the three books I finished this month were around 500 pages, so technically I did read a large quantity of words, and I also enjoyed all the books I read, which is something.

Somehow, September has ended up being my worst reading month of the year so far. I only managed to read a single novel, a short thriller that I didn’t even enjoy, and the other six books were graphic novels. I’m not sure what happened, except that I wasn’t inclined to read at all, or write, or do much of anything, which is odd considering September is usually my second favorite month of the year, but maybe because it was still so hot everything felt discordant?

This deceptively large number of books read is brought to you by the ridiculous quantity of graphic novels I’ve consumed this month. As I’ve been saying, I have been vaguely slumpish all summer, and in an effort to combat said slumpiness, I’ve tried reading shorter books and graphic novels. This way, I can actually finish things, and I also don’t fall behind on my Goodreads challenge.
