Favorite Non-Fiction Books of 2020

December 30, 2020 Hadeer6 Comments

I read a lot of non-fiction this year, huzzah! Not very many five-stars, but a lot of of them were solid enough that I want to highlight them. Here’s to reading just as much non-fiction in 2021!

Getting ready for a tarot workshop!
I read Pride and Prejudice for the first time for my AP English class my senior year of high school. At that point, I was already obsessed with the 2005 adaptation and really enjoyed the book, which was surprising, because I don’t like many classics. Now, ten years later (!!), I’m re-reading this gorgeous edition for a Jane Austen book club!

new scrapbook for a new year!
bought these today from @kewandwillow! i haven’t been to a bookstore since the pandemic began and it was SO nice to be able to go browse. @kewandwillow does appts for browsing so it’s all socially distanced!
My main goal in December was to finish The Daevabad Trilogy. I first read The City of Brass in 2017, when it was still an ARC, and it was my favorite book of the year. I re-read it this year so I could continue the series, and it is again my favorite book of the year. This is a gorgeous epic fantasy trilogy that shines on the strength of its characters. There are very few books make me *feel* so strongly, but The City of Brass and its sequels manage to unmoor me from reality and get me as close to tears as possible. I’m so sad to leave this world behind, but binging the series was an excellent way to close off an otherwise lackluster year. (Also, peep the little Nahri plushie! I *love* her!)
