End of Year Book Tag

I haven’t done any kind of book tag in forever but this one is just short and simple enough for me to tackle, so here goes!

I. Is there a book that you started that you still need to finish by the end of the year?

So, these are the books I am currently reading, and I am actually hoping to finish all but one in November! I also just got The Queen of Nothing from the library so I do hope to read that as soon as I finish The Wicked King (I purposely waited because I heard about the awful cliffhanger lmao). I have been reading The Witch since October, and I’ve barely read a page of it this month…it’s not badit’s just dense and academic and requires a lot of time and concentration. I just need to sequester myself in a room with a highlighter and no distractions.

II. Do you have an autumnal book to transition to the end of the year?

Since the autumnal portion of this year has come and gone, I’ll instead talk about some of the books I plan to read next month, only one of which is particularly autumnal, and that is Sanctuary, a supernatural thriller about witches. The other three are classic high fantasies, very old-school, that I’ve been meaning to get to for ages!

III. Is there a release you are still waiting for?

Mmm, I mean, yes, technically, I am still waiting on these two books to be released, but I have an ARC of one and the other I will be getting in a book box, though I don’t know why I made that decision since I really loathe the cover (three guesses which).

IV. Name three books you want to read by the end of the year.

I already kind of talked about some other books I want to read next month but here are some more! I have no idea if I will manage to actually get to all these books, considering that a good portion of them are high fantasy and that can be time-consuming.

V. Is there a book that can still shock you and become your favourite of the year?

I have very high hopes for The Goblin Emperor. It’s so very hyped.

VI. Have you already started making reading plans for 2020?

Most of my 2020 reading plans are goals that I’m carrying over from 2019, because I have failed spectacularly at completing my 2019 goals. Mainly, I want to read more Sarah Waters and Emma Donoghue (since I own almost their entire oeuvre). I’d also like to finally read The Diviners series from start to finish, which I can do once the final book is published; there’s a couple of other series that will be ending that I would like to complete as well, such as The Poppy War and the Daevabad Trilogy.
