FairyLoot May 2018 Unboxing

IMG_4028

The FairyLoot box arrived so much quicker this month! It just shipped out like two days ago and already it’s here. This is kind of bittersweet as this is my final month of FairyLoot. HOWEVER I decided to go for a 3-month subscription to OwlCrate. It’s like $60 cheaper, plus FairyLoot keeps giving me these very obscure books, so I figured I’d try another subscription service. But in any case, let’s go to the unboxing for this month!

The very first item I saw was this book-themed bath bomb, which I actually thought was soap at first. It’s really pretty and sparkly and shaped like a castle, but sadly I don’t really have a bathtub you can take baths in. I mean, I do have a bathtub, but I would never willingly take a bath in there. Plus I’ve never really been a bath person, to be honest? Like I never want to spend more time in the bathroom than I have to lmao. So I’m not sure what I’ll do with this…maybe I’ll soak my feet in it or something?? Can you do that with bath bombs?? I have to admit I’m not entirely sure what a bath bomb is.

The next item is a bookish-themed lip scrub! I actually just purchased a lip scrub a couple of weeks ago after a great deal of research into its ingredients, but this is supposed to be a vegan lip scrub, so I’ll try it out! It smells incredible.

Next we have two items I’m super excited about, and they go together nicely! First there’s English Breakfast loose-leaf tea. I love tea, and I don’t have any loose-leaf tea, so I’m excited to try this out. The other item is a coaster which I adore because I use coasters all the time; they’re so practical.

Next we have Throne of Glass themed post-its which are pretty cool! I don’t know how much use I’ll get out of them since I’m not the sort of person to mark up my fiction books, but they’re still really cool post its and I’m sure I’ll get some use out of them at some point. The other item is a book sleeve! I’ve never owned a book sleeve and to be honest I’ve never really felt the need for one. I guess if you’re outdoors or at the beach or something? But I don’t get out very much lmao. Still, though, it’s a really excellent quality book sleeve and I love that quote and that coloring!

Now the miscellaneous items: the spoiler card and its bookmark, another bookmark, and a tarot card. I think? I believe it has something to do with the book Legendary but I haven’t read the books so I’m not sure what!

And the book of the month is Onyx & Ivory by Mindee Arnett! As I said, FairyLoot keeps sending out these random books I’ve never heard of, and this is no exception. I’ve not heard a whiff of this author or this book anywhere! It looks intriguing though, seems like a mature YA fantasy, and it’s got an absolutely gorgeous map.

So that’s that! That’s it for FairyLoot for me, for the time being anyway.

  1. Fairyloot always looks like an excellent box with stuff I could actually see myself using. I’m so bummed they’re in the UK and I’m not! (Yeah, I’m complaining when usually everything is in the US, so I win, but paying international shipping for this would be tough for me!)

  2. This box was pretty cool! My last box from Fairyloot was a few months ago because of the cost as well. I’ve also tried Litjoycrate but I never like their book selctions, sadly. I also like Unicorncrate but it’s still $45 per box.

What do you mean by Fairyloot’s books choices being too obscure? I know that most subscription boxes either have a brand new debut author’s book or the first in a series of an already published author. Does Owlcrate do more known authors? I never thought to compare. I might have to go back and check.

    I hope you enjoy Owlcrate!
